Narrative Therapy

You have a story about yourself, and you've told it so many times that it feels like fact. "I'm too much." "I have to earn rest." "If I stop achieving, I'll lose everything I've built." "Needing help means I'm failing."

You might not even notice you're narrating your life this way until you catch the pattern: something goes wrong, and the story that shows up isn't "that was hard," it's "of course that happened, this is just who I am." The story runs so automatically, it stopped feeling like a story a long time ago. It just feels like the truth.

That's not because it's actually true. It's because a story repeated enough times — especially one formed early, or during something painful — starts to feel like identity instead of interpretation.
